Danby Castle is a real gem of a venue, situated in stunning surroundings in the North Yorkshire Moors. I have been in touch with Carolyn & Jemma from the venue for quite a while, and have attended a couple of wedding fayres there this year. The place really sums up everything I love in a wedding venue: unusual, laid back, relaxed, quirky surroundings and great staff...so I was absolutely thrilled to finally be shooting my first wedding there.
Jenny & Lee got married at the enormous & gorgeous St Peter's Church in Southbank, as Jenny had special family history there.
Jenny wore a gorgeous fitted Victoria Jane By Ronald Joyce gown, and her two lovely bridesmaids wore royal blue dresses.
A big part of the couples' life are their pets - Domino, their gorgeous dalmatian, and Meg, Jenny's horse, so right from the start they knew they were going to be attending the wedding and being part of their special day. They met us at Danby, rather than walking down the church aisle though ;-)
The priest gave a very moving and personal service, and seven of the couples close friends read during the wedding. The ceremony also featured the a symbolic lighting of candles by the couple, to show the joining together of their families.
After a drive through the North York Moors, we were greeted at Danby by smiling staff & an excited Meg & Domino. After some couples & group photographs, everyone was treated to a delicious pie & mash wedding breakfast... I can say that because I got to eat a big plate of Dragon Pie (NB. not real dragons, I'm a vegetarian!)
The fab 'Danby Castle Commandments' sign on the left hand side was designed by Oh Abigail and featured permanently on site, love it!
Their quirky Cath Kidston inspired bunting cake was by Cupcake Delight By Sonia, who I can thoroughly recommend! Their unusual horse-inspired wedding stationery came from Hope You Can Make It.
The rest of the evening whizzed by, lots of happy smiles and lots of dancing! I took the opportunity to grab the couple for a few minutes, for some low light photographs as the sun set in a bright pink way cross the valley.
Lee & Jenny chose 'A Thousand Years' By Christina Perri for their first dance, what a fab first dance song!!
Thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your wedding and I wish you all the best for your future together x
