Cherry Blossom City Pre-wedding shoot (Jodie & Kate)

Jodie & Kate are currently in a civil partnership and are going to take advantage in the change in law and 'convert it' to marriage later this year. Woohooo! Their wedding will take place at The Alnwick Treehouse at Alnwick Gardens, Northumberland. 

The couple live in London and we hadn't actually met when they drove up for their pre-wedding shoot. We had a last minute change of plan, as the shoot was to take place on the beach, but it was raining heavily and windy, so I suggested a couple of alternatives. 

They chose to have their shoot in Newcastle city centre, around Castle Keep, The High Level Bridge and The Black Gate. We decided to go sit down for a chat first to run over their wedding plans and we ended up chatting for over 2 and a half ours, over food and coffee, getting to know each other! 

When we walked out of the restaurant it had stopped raining! Woohoo! There was a huge cherry blossom tree and I took lots of photographs there too. I had so much fun with Jodie & Kate and I am very much looking forward to their wedding.

Relaxed & fun pre-wedding shoot at Ellingham Hall

Leon & Gina got married in an intimate celebration at Ellingham Hall near Alnwick back in the summer. We met up a few weeks before the big day and they chose to have their pre-wedding shoot at Ellingham Hall itself in and around the grounds so we could get to know each other a little more.

They are extremely relaxed in each others' company and were a dream to photograph :)

Barter Books Alnwick (Chris & Katy's Pre-wedding shoot)

Going back to October 2012, I finally got a chance to visit Barter Books in Alnwick, Northumberland. It's an amazing second hand book shop, set inside the old train station. It is quite famous for another reason as to being a great book shop. It was in this very shop that the Keep Calm and Carry on poster was re-discovered hiding in a box of books and ended up being popular around the world! It is a very quirky place, and as soon as I walked in I started coming up with ideas for a shoot there in future. I dropped them an email afterwards and they said they'd be happy for me to take some photographs there. 

I hadn't found the perfect couple to photograph there, until I met Chris & Katy, nearly 18 months later. When we first met up to chat about their wedding, they revealed they both love books and met working in a branch of Waterstones. Well I immediately suggested my idea of having a pre-wedding shoot in Barter Books, so not only was I delighted that they booked me (hehe, pun!) to photograph their wedding, they also loved the idea and went with it!

We chose to pop up to their wedding venue, Ellingham Hall first. This was to look around as they wanted to come up with some ideas with me there, given that they hadn't seen the grounds in daylight before.  The other reason was to spend 10 minutes or so for them to feel a bit more at ease in front of the camera first, as it was the middle of the school holidays and we knew Barter Books would be busy! Well it worked, Katy & Chris were fabulous to work with and I was thrilled that I finally got a chance to shoot in this amazing place. I did research before and couldn't find any other examples of a shoot like this in Barter Books yet, so will be interesting to see if I get further request from any book-loving couples in future :D Thanks  so much to Natalie, a great photographer and friend who assisted me on the shoot too.

 I cannot wait to be part of Katy & Chris' wedding next year..... I hear there may be a bit of a book theme running through the day, eek!!

Blyth pre-wedding shoot (Katie & Phil)

Katie & Phil got married in early August at Eshott Hall . Keep an eye out for their wedding on the blog coming soon!

We met up earlier in the year for their pre-wedding shoot, they wanted a beach location and I suggested Blyth seafront, as the weather wasn't great (rain & wind!) this was an ideal option as we were fairly near to the car park and a cafe we could escape to as well!

They both embraced the weather and had lots of fun, though at times we could barely hear each other above the wind!

Jesmond Dene Pre-wedding shoot (Maddie & Lewis)

Maddie & Lewis are getting married this December at Ellingham Hall.

We met up in Jesmond Dene in rather rainy conditions for some relaxed pre-wedding photographs.
Maddie particularly loves the waterfall there so we made sure to get a photograph :-)
