Share The Honest Love - Katie Byram Photography

Following on from a recent blog post I saw on  Fetcham Park's blog  and written in further detail on Love My Dress blog , I have been inspired to share a blog post on a similar vein, they want brides, grooms and wedding suppliers to remember what's the most important thing about any wedding day. That is two people in love, committing themselves to each other in front of family and friends. I've been lucky enough to share in and photograph wedding days both big and small, low key and extravagant, but the end of the day, the size, complexity, 'prettiness' or cost, shouldn't be the defining factor in the meaning, the importance, or the emotions of the day. It's about the couple.

So, what are my favourite parts of a wedding day?

Well, there are many. But I love the moment the couple first see each other, the smile, the glances..the giggles they get during the ceremony. I love it when the couple really focuses on each other and says their vows with meaning. If my couple are nervous before walking down the aisle, I tell them 'Forget about everyone else, blur them out, pretend no-one is there, and say your vows to each other'.

I love the speeches, the funny ones, the sad ones..... and I love hearing about how a couple met or got engaged.

I love capturing the interaction between the family, friends and between the couple themselves.

And of course, I love wedding cake. Who doesn't?  ;-)

So here's a few of my favourite shots from wedding's I've photographed, showing raw & genuine emotion....no detail shots here!

I loved putting this post together of images, will definitely do something like this every few months.... Remember, on your wedding day, take some time to look around,  hug your family, look at your new husband or wife and take a moment to take it in, you are married! The people who love you are there, or looking down on you, and this is a day you will always remember. 

When you get stressed about little details in the planning of your day, remember what is the most important thing about your day.... your loved ones, family, friends, and your other half, each other, love and having fun!

Marsden Beach Pre-wedding shoot (Daniel & Emma)

Emma and Daniel got married in August 2014 at High House Farm Brewery. We met up a few weeks before their big day for their pre-wedding shoot, at Marsden beach near South Shields, and they brought along their son Alfie as well for some photographs.

Wedding Wonder Show (The Biscuit Factory Wedding Fayre) 14th September 2014

Yesterday I exhibited at The  Wedding Wonder Show at The Biscuit Factory  in Newcastle. The fayre was organised in conjunction with Belle Bridal Magazine . I have heard many good things about the wedding fayres that they put on, so decided to give it a go this time.

The Biscuit Factory have created a new space, the Biscuit Room, for weddings and receptions, and this was the first time that the public was able to have a preview of what's to come.  It is light and airy and has wooden floors throughout. I would love to see it all set up for a wedding, it looks a great place.

It was the first time I had the opportunity for people to pick up my new flyer cards, I went for square cards in fine art paper, and they went down a storm!

I didn't get much chance to take photographs as it was so busy with so many couples to chat to through the doors, but here's a few shots of my stall and the day. It's a shame I didn't get to take more but I was there to chat to couples not take photos haha !

Thanks to The Wedding Wonder Show for putting on such a good event. They had live music, a fashion show and the best goodie bags i've seen at a fayre!!

I asked Chris Cross, a fabulous magician if he'd like a photo. Well it turns out, he is the least camera shy person ever, and immediately started posing!

Another person I met at the fayre was artist Wendy (Wendy Ann Stanger Textiles) . She can create amazing pieces of art out of wedding bouquets and wedding fabrics... what a gorgeous way to preserve the details of your special day,.... I noticed her as one of my brides has a piece of art made by Wendy,  from her wedding bouquet hanging in her house. 

Teri, from Styled and Seated  (& also Belle Bridal Magazine) was showing a range of her work at the show as well. There were really so many friendly faces there!

And finally I got to chat to Dani, who was helping out Ross from Snaparazzi and Coco Luminaire, they had a range of their amazing things on display.... these really are the original and best quality photo booths and lights in the North East. LOVE the carnival themed LOVE letters... perfection!

Whitley Bay pre-wedding shoot (Morgan & Dan)

Dan & Morgan got married in July at High House Farm Brewery.

We met up at the beach at Whitley Bay, near their home for their pre-wedding shoot in June, and they brought along their children as well to make it a family occasion. It was rather windy but we still had a lovely time. It was wonderful getting to know them more and keep your eyes out for their wedding which will be featured shortly on the blog.
