Well well well, I can't believe I haven't yet posted this up here yet but basically last month some amazing wedding suppliers got together to produce an amazing beach themed photoshoot. I started planning this shoot back in October 2011. My idea was to get some businesses working together to produce something fresh and different, a change from all the beautiful (but too often done) vintage chintz photoshoots with floral teacups...
And wow I was blown away by how many amazing suppliers we got together for the shoot.... and how creative they all were.
Here are just a few sneak peeks.....more to come!!!!

Joanne & Peter's Engagement Shoot Sneaky Peeks
I recently attended a wedding fayre at the new Double Tree by Hilton hotel which is a gorgeous new hotel right next to Newcastle Airport. I had a draw for couples to win an engagement shoot, and it was an absolute pleasure to photograph the winning couple, Joanne and Peter at their chosen location - Blyth Beach.
I met them next to the beautiful brightly-coloured beach huts. In contrast to the previous day, it was very cold and very windy, but it didn't stop Joanne and Peter having great fun, jumping around, even running in the sea. Here is a sneaky peek of their photoshoot.
Joanne and Peter have booked their wedding for May next year. I wish them lots of luck and happy planning!!

Chris and Victoria's Pre-Wedding Photoshoot At Souter Lighthouse
It was a hot and very sunny day when I met up with Victoria and Chris at Souter Lighthouse near Whitburn. They are getting married next month at The Little Haven Hotel near to South Shields which is a charming place with beautiful scenery surrounding. Souter Lighthouse is a rather special place to Victoria and Chris as they have taken many walks along the cliff tops there together, so when they suggested this location I was more than happy to grab the opportunity. I have also walked many times on the clifftops, it's a gorgeous location and I love the red and white stripy lighthouse.
Such a lovely day and really looking forward to their wedding next month!

Exciting News - Qwest Award!!
Qwest (Quality Wedding Establishment) is the UK's only governing body for the wedding industry. All members have to pass an assessment covering sixteen categories regarding their business practice and professionalism.
I'm pleased to say that in February, Katie Byram Photography received the Qwest stamp of approval, and received a certificate, as well as being featured on their website
I met with Louise & Claire from Qwest up at the Just Perfect Wedding and Events Gallery, along with Wendy Reed from By WendyBespoke Stationery at the end of February, to receive my certificate.
Some of the things I discussed with Qwest were how important I feel it is to provide a tailored service to my clients, rather than applying the same format to every wedding, and to give as much a personal approach as possible.
Here is myself and the lovely Wendy (I'm on the right)

The Christening of Heidi-Louise
Back in November, I had the pleasure of travelling back to my hometown of Huddersfield to photograph this lovely christening. Heidi's Mum & I were at the same school, and by co-incidence, the christening was not only at the same church that I was christened at:
a) It was the same vicar that conducted my ceremony when I was 5 months old
b) The girl who was christened at the same ceremony as mine was in attendance as a guest!
c) The lovely vicar, Phillip got out the huge christening register book and showed me the entry.
So it was even more of a special day!
There was a real Christmas feel in the church with several trees and decorations already in place. Beautiful hymns were sung and prayers were said.
Then the guests and family moved to the back to the font, where the baptism took place.
The family and Godparents then moved to the front of the church to say some final words and prayers, and Megan (the big sister) carried the candle.
We then took a few family photographs, which we did inside the church as Heidi was only 2 months old and it was rather cold outside!
We then moved to the White Hart Pub, in Denby Dale, which is a lovely cosy village pub, for the celebrations to continue.
How gorgeous is this cake? I believe even the little bootie shoes were edible!
At the celebrations, I got the opportunity to take a few individual photographs of little Heidi, we sat her on a chair with a lovely knitted blanket and with lots of noises and smiling got these cute photographs of her. I love her eyes, so big and blue :-)
If you are planning a christening, and are interested in booking a photographer to capture the special day, please drop me a line! katie@photographybykatie.co.uk
Or if you're still not sure about having a photographer there, have a read of this blog entry I posted last year: Why you should consider hiring a photographer for your child's christening.
