Katie & Connell booked me for their wedding 18 months ago. Over that time we've kept in touch on Facebook and heard little snippets from bride Katie in to the run up to their wedding day. We also met at Slaley Hall, which is where they got engaged, for their pre-wedding shoot a few months ago, and at the venue itself to run through the planning for the day. So, on turning up on their wedding day in November, at the Rampsbeck Country Hotel, near Ullswater in the Lake District. I was immediately made to feel so welcome by everyone and it felt like I'd known them for years and years. The hotel is a beautifully located small country hotel, and the couple had the whole place exclusively, for the weekend.
Katie & Connell are a quirky couple, full of laughs together and shared interests such as Doctor Who, music and cats. They are so well matched, and it was just wonderful to be part of their special day.
Their wedding planner, Michelle Taylor, runs Taylored Events and also is the wedding planner for all of the lucky couples who get married at the Rampsbeck. She has such a warm, friendly and professional presence on the day. Everything ran so smoothly and at the end of the day I felt like I'd made a new friend. I would highly recommend Michelle & her business.
Katie's unique wedding dress was made especially by Sarah from Mia Bridal in Carlisle, and featured a blouse on the top with a sash. It had a definite 'Victorian' feel to it and suited Katie so well!
She wore pink shoes by Vivienne Westwood and customised wellies herself.
Katie is so creative and imaginative which showed on her wedding day! She made all of the origami flowers, bouquets, button holes and centrepieces. WOW! It must have been hours and hours and days of work.
She has since set up her own little business crafting these - Talulah's Treasures. Definitely worth a look!!
I know Katie's sister Jemma from working in the wedding industry. She made a gorgeous bridesmaid in a Twobirds pink dress.
Connell showed he's a true romantic, and played Katie down the aisle on his guitar which was such a lovely personal touch.
The ceremony was really lovely and the couple seemed relaxed and happy whilst saying their vows. During the first kiss, Connell got a bit more than he'd bargained for- Katie's lipstick!
After the ceremony the happy couple had a little walk down to the lake for a few relaxed portraits. Katie insisted getting into the lake in her wellies, much to Connell and her Dad's amusement!
During the speeches, Katie's Dad Les explained he had something for Connell to help him in his marriage, especially for things around the house, and handed over a package wrapped in Bob the Builder paper. It turned out to be a sonic screwdriver!
Their cake came from the Cutiepie Cake Company and was topped with paper flowers made by Katie.
In the evening it was absolutely pouring it down and SO windy! Unfortunately that meant the guests couldn't come outside for sparklers as planned, however it did mean we got some extremely romantic photographs with backlit raindrops!
The next day when I woke up I genuinely wished I could do it all again. I loved every single minute of their fabulous wedding day - there such an outpouring of love and happiness from their family and friends. Thank you to Mr & Mrs Vandepeear for having me as your wedding photographer and making me so welcome!
